How A Bucket of Chicken Saved A Life!!!
So tonight I decided to go to the city council meeting with Ronny Johnson from the Kids Can Campaign. On the way he stops at KFC and I’m thinking why this Kentucky Fried Chicken…They are also running out of you guessed it CHICKEN! How Can a KFC run out of Chicken? So Ronny orders his food and we sit down. About 10 minutes pass and a guy walks out of the bathroom and asks me if I work there. Of Course I give him a crazy look because I don’t have on a uniform. The next words out of his mouth is call 911, I’m having a heart-attack. So Ronny grabs his phone and I walk up to the counter and tell the girl to get a manager. The fire-truck pulled up, followed by the ambulance and they saved the man. The whole situation got me thinking what if I had not been there!
I guess Church is a lot like KFC, you can’t give up on it simply because some members sometimes run out of kindness or compassion. And just like me you might not have on a uniform but you can help save somebody’s life by you just being there!!!
Matthew 16:18Matthew 16:18
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Peter: this name signifies a rock
– And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Give up the Two Dollars!!!
Uncle– Are you happy that your great aunt just gave you 2 dollars?
7 year old Nephew- Yeah.
Uncle– Give me the two dollars.
7 year old Nephew– HERE.
Uncle–(Laughs) I don’t want your two dollars, you keep that…it’s for you.
What is so awesome is that the little boy cared about the money but he was willing to give it to his Uncle because he totally trusted him unconditionally. I mean there was absolutely no hesitation in the boys answer . HERE. He said it so quickly, no thought of his ownership of his two dollars or what his Uncle wanted to do with the money. Not gripe that the Uncle did not give him the money. He was completely ready to surrender all he owned to his Uncle no questions asked.
Immediately, I felt ashamed because when I first got saved, I was that little boy. But somewhere along the way I gained a ton of religion and a pound of pride. I began to hesitate or doubt because I heard other voices. Yeah, I tell myself I’m giving God my all but I pause… Instead of my just saying HERE. My answer to God is Why or are your sure Lord.
But when I truly trust God with NO pause NO reasoning, He always lets me keep my two dollars and gets me some McDonald’s.

1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. Behold...: Heb. Behold me
2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
After these things God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here am I.” 2 He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Mori’ah, and offer him there as a burnt offering upon one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”

Are You An MVP Leader?
I make no apologies for it I’m a Lakers fan. Yes, it’s a new year and the Celtics are the Champs. However, Kobe Bryant is the leagues reigning MVP. So what happened? Did Kobe suddenly become a better shooter last year? Was he faster last year than year he came straight out of high school. The Answer is No!!! The difference in Kobe last year was his ability to give the ball up to people he trusted. Long gone were the butterfingers of Kwame Brown. Instead, Kobe was saying hello to the sure hands of Paul Gasol. Being a Leader is a lot like playing on a basketball team.
You spend years cultivating your talents and gifts. You trust your performance ability, just as Kobe trust his jumper. However, to reach MVP status you have to be able to make others better. Sure it easy for you to micro-manage others, but much harder to give the ball up for the game changing shot.
Exodus 18:25-26Exodus 18:25-26
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
25 And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.
26 And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.
And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. 26 And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.
Even Moses had to trust with the small things. Moses did not have the time to rule on every matter that the Children of Israel faced. He had to trust others judgment to make the right decision or the right play. When it was a hard case they still brought it to him but it freed up Moses work load so he had time and energy to hear for God.
Is lack of trust in the people you lead causing you to miss what God has for you?

More Abel, Less Cain
In the world of Bling and Benz’s, one can quickly get caught up on his brothers blessing.
Gen 4:8Gen 4:8
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
And Cain said to his brother, Let us go into the field: and when they were in the field, Cain made an attack on his brother Abel and put him to death.
Look at Cain; he was distressed because the Lord wanted more out of his offering. Instead of focusing on how he fell short of giving God his best, he became jealous of his brothers gift to God. He leaves spot of the offering, only to kill his brother. What was Abel mistake did he tease Cain about God accepting his offering? Maybe he turned to Cain when they were leaving the church and tried to give him some advice on how to make his offering better. Who knows exactly what happened to set Cain off, but what we do know is that it is much to easy to hurt our brother when we are mad at God.
Cain and many of us miss the point, God wants our best he is not grading us collectively, we have a personal score sheet called our life. So let’s move everyday to be less like Cain and we will be Abel to keep our brothers longer.

Faith In the Midst of Famine
We can turn on any news outlet and hear one word, Recession. Webster defines Recession as a period of reduced economic activity. Many economists even say that it is a depression. However, the word that best depicts the situation our country is facing is A Famine. We are facing an Economic Famine or lack, a hunger for more money, jobs, and credit.
I almost bought into the hype of it is time to save hold on to your money; the economy will recover in about 2 years. The one thing I did realize that none of the people who was suppose to know about the financial crisis had the answers. So thank you but no think you Susie Orman, I’m turning to God for guidance on this one.
When I turned to the Bible for answers, I discovered that God uses famine to Reposition believers. One way is by breaking away from old habits or old systems. Going to Egypt had worked in the past but God tells Isaac to go somewhere new that He would lead him. If there had not been a famine there would not have been a reason for Isaac to move. God sometimes has to take us out of our comfort zone to bless us or even hear be able to hear from him. There is someone reading this right now who would not have left started there own business if their job had not laid them off.
Gen26:1 now there was a famine in the land, besides the former famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Gerar, to Abim’elech king of the Philistines. 2 And the LORD appeared to him, and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; dwell in the land of which I shall tell you. 3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you; for to you and to your descendants I will give all these lands, and I will fulfil the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.
The next way God repositions believers in time of famine is in the ability to Sow. While most
money managers are telling people to stop investing, Believers are still paying their tithes and offering. As many are burying there money like the man with one talent (Matt Chapter 25). Giving is the ability for our money to grow. The reason Philistines envied Isaac because he got rich at a time when others where hungry simple because God was with him and he had knowledge to keep sowing regardless of what others in the land were doing.
Gen 26:12Gen 26:12
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV
12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. received: Heb. found
And Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. The LORD blessed him, 13 and the man became rich, and gained more and more until he became very wealthy. 14 He had possessions of flocks and herds, and a great household, so that the Philistines envied him.

Cars in the Pulpit
Recently, A Pastor in Detroit entered the pulpit not flanked by a chair but behind him was a series of SUV’s. The question is to late for Prayer for the US auto makers or is there still hope?
Kermit’s Comment- I much have rather seen the CEOs of these companies on their knees praying for help. It’s so easy to call on God when you feel that he is the only option but much harder to focus on him when you business is running smoothly.
